APSCA pet insurance is administered by the Hartford Group. My dog, who is 12 years old, was accepted into the program and I was paying $42 a month. The first time I submitted a claim, they refused everything including routine care and pain medication for her arthritis. Now, they were well aware of her age when they accepted her in the plan, but they consider arthritis a "pre-existing" condition?.

Long story short, I cancelled the insurance when I realized they were never going to pay any claims:. The promised me a partial refund/. After 2 weeks, I contacted them only to be informed that since I filed a claim, they were denying my refund/. They denied the whole claim.. I never received a dime, but they were using the claim to withold my refund|.

I filed a complaint w/the BBB, but didn't get anywhere;. I shelled out over $300!

I don't recommend this service to anyone?. They will take your money and deny your claims and you'll never see your money again. 2cd11d2

I've had ASPCA for the past year or so. This march my doxie had to undergo a Hemilactomy to remove one spinal disk, which was a bill of $4200. I submitted a claim for this procedure, and got ZERO dollars back. They claim that disk disease is a congenital disorder, which is ABSURD, simply a lie. I'm disputing the charge today, but I have no hope they will reconsider. I was considerably happy with the service until then, even though the way they calculate the refunds is totally unfair.

Please contact me if you are going to start a class action lawsuit. My father had the ASPCA pet insurance for 4 years. When his dog fell I'll and he finally needed them, they refused all claims leaving him with a $6,600 bill. He is disabled and on Social security. These people are heartless scum

Cancel ASPCA premiums now. Anything they deem as common to a particular breed, they will claim as "pre-existing" condition, even though no symptoms are present when insurance is started. Our 1 yr old lab started limping and subsequently had $10,000 worth of elbow surgery to both arms, all denied....

Class action sounds great to me... We just signed up for ASPCA and after a month, my dog had a major allergic reaction to something at 1am. We took her to the ONLY 24 hour care vet. We just got the check in the mail and the 80% was taken off AFTER they disapproved of $30 leaving us with a $27 check from a $62.97 bill after the $100 deductible.

I told them I may very well dispute the amount. All I have to do is go around to all the 24 hour vets and get their average, and since my vet is the only one, should be easy to dispute their "allowed" amount.

PLEASE let me know if a class action suit is created, I'd gladly join. This is clearly a "fine text" catch this company uses to make extra profit.

I am an attorney who has had this issue over "reasonable and customary" with ASPCA. They are calculating it wrong. I think there is a class action potential here. Please let me know if you have had similar experiences.

The problem is when you enter "Hartville Group" in the search box, Nothing comes up.

Only when you enter Hartford, which is wrong. Hopefully the Administrators of this site can correct that, as the Error does not due Justice to The Hartford Group, and tarnishes their name.

Bty, if you enter 'ASPCA' into the search box, the complaints will come up regarding their Abominable Pet Insurance Plans, and their affiliation with The 'HARTVILLE' Group

Remember, the ASPCA is Affiliated with the Hartville Group, Inc. NOT The Hartford Insurance Company..

I know it is the Hartville, but the Hartford is ingrained in many people's memories because they have been around for so long.

Obviously, The HARTFORD is a very reputable company, from what I understand.

The Hartville Group, on the other hand, is yet to be desired.

The Hartville Group, Inc is a Penny Stock, that is around 32 cents today. The 52 week low was 6 cents.

I believe this company is financially unstable, and is the reason for the Bad Faith claim payouts, or lack of. A further look into this company's business practices need to be investigated, imo.

There appears to be a concerted effort on the part of this company to either >

1) not pay legitimate claims

2) pay very little on submitted claims

3) act in Bad Faith regarding interpreting submitted claims, so as to artificially include the procedures as an 'Exclusion' to the policy, to shield the company from paying the submitted 'Legitimate' claims

Run when you here of this Pet Insurance. Don't sign up, and ALL Existing Customers should Cancel ALL Policies. Thgen, and only then, will WE and our Loved Ones be able to either >

1) Force this Abominable Pet Insurance Company to change their ways

2) Run this Company out of Business, so that other customers and their beloved Pets get a fair shake, and a chance of Survival.

Stay far away from the ASPCA Petshealth plan insurance for your loved ones. They have a 180 day exception rule which used to be quite hidden. It is now on the declarations page.

If your policy renews on the 1st of the month, and your pet got sick the day before, this thieving company will consider that a pre existing condition, and not cover you for 180 days until it is cleared up. They offer an extended plan which only covers you up to $500 more. This insurance Company is a Fraud, and they will nickel and dime you for every claim that you submit. They care NOTHING about your Loved Ones.

I have paid a Premium for over 20 years and just made a claim. They paid me 20% of 1500.00. Now it is too late to switch plans because my beloved is 18 years old.

These guys are CRIMINALS, and charges should be brought against them. Either that, or an injunction should be made against them, so that they never write another insurance policy again.

After doing what I THOUGHT was a lot of reasearch on pet insurance when I got my puppy a few months ago, I went with ASPCA (and yes, I thought they were affiliated with the REAL ASPCA, so that helped to make up my mind).

The policy states that that they would pay 80% for neuter and the costs affilitated with it. I called around, go the best price I could, and had my puppy neutered with the peace of mind that they would help financially. When all was said and done and the claim was submitted, they came nowhere NEAR paying 80% of the costs. As a matter of fact, they claim that their "metropolitan area" reasonable amount was lower (how much lower, they didn't say). I suppose if I took my puppy to a guy who had a pair of pliers and a sewing kit, that would have been in their range. SO MAD, and will GLADLY join a class action suit against this faux insurance company.
