I have had car insurance with the Hartford for 18 months. In my state it's required by law to have the insurance ID card on the car at all times. It cannot be an emailed or faxed copy. The actual ID is required in order to get a yearly safety check and sticker. I can"t get the Hartford to send me the required card. So at this point I am in violation of both laws even though my insurance is current. I could end up paying hundreds of dollars in fines due to the Hartford's refusal to get this card to me in a timely manner. I called 2 weeks ago and still have not received it. I called again yesterday and was told that they would start the process again and it would take another 2 weeks. They refuse to send it first class which takes 2-5 days, or express even if I pay the postage myself. I was told "we don't mail thing first class."I explained that mail to Hawaii needs to go first class, standard can take up to four weeks. They just keep saying "we don't do that and offering to fax it to me even after I explained that the state of Hawaii will not accept a facsimile which I already have. Theymailed me something which says "facsimile" on it which is useless.

Why don't you just go online and print your ID card off of the website? Also, the majority of states allow you to use the ID card available on your mobile device.

Also, I don't know of an insurance company who can't email your card to you.

Just print it from email, takes 20 seconds. Who is still waiting around for snail mail in this day and age of technology?
